How do you know what the “right” path is? Is there such a thing? This is something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately, especially when I’m in nature.

I’ve been spending a lot more time in the forest lately, one of my favorite places to be. It’s such a beautiful, peaceful sanctuary that puts my mind at ease. I like to wander aimlessly without a destination in mind; it feels freeing to do something without an end goal, which is so different than the regular pace of life.

Often times I come to a fork in the road, with two (sometimes more) paths to choose from. I’ve learned not to spend more than a few seconds deciding which path to take - I let my intuition tell me where to go. I know that no matter which path I choose, it will be beautiful. And sometimes I laugh because the path I choose routes me to back to the other path, converging into one.

I think life is that way. We may be faced with a decision and be torn about which direction to take. Sometimes, we may find that our chosen direction takes us back to where we started, but this time with more knowledge and experience.

We put so much pressure on ourselves to choose the “right” path. Sometimes, the choices in front of us are vastly different, with very different sets of consequences, yet every choice has a ripple effect. But does that mean one is “better” than the other? Maybe all choices still give us the opportunity to learn the lessons we need, no matter what we choose.

Sometimes I take a path that doesn’t look like anything special, but then I turn around to glance at where I came from, and am stunned by the gorgeous view, like the one below from yesterday. Having some distance from the place I started allows me to see the whole picture, in all its glory. It gives me perspective.

I believe the universe has a way of routing (and rerouting) us back to where we need to go. If we are open to receiving its guidance and listen to the whispers of our body’s intelligence, we will go where we need to.

I’m finding in my own life that it’s not so much the path that matters; it’s how I choose. If I choose with intention, love and integrity and allow my intuition to guide me, I know I’m headed in the right direction. And no matter which path I’m on, there will be challenges to overcome. Obstacles that may seem insurmountable, yet unfold into opportunities for growth. Such is the journey at this stage in life; in this stage of growth.

If you’re facing a difficulty in your life, go outside. When you’re surrounded by the incredible beauty of Mother Nature, you will be reminded of how small you are, in the best way. You will see that the rocks and trees that surround you were there before you, and will continue to exist after you.

So, how do you choose when faced with a fork in the road?

Go wherever your soul pulls you, even if it doesn't make sense to your logical mind. It’s your higher self; calling you, pulling you, towards a delicious adventure; even better than you could imagine for yourself. Allow it to happen, and you will experience true magic in your life.
